Abstract

Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) is a series of centrifugal pumps that are embedded in a well and driven by an electric current flowing from the surface. At the company PT. Bumi Siak Pusako, the population using ESP pumps is 79% of the total production wells, then there is damage to the ESP pump, namely a pothead leak which causes production stability to be disturbed. PT. Bumi Siak Pusako found a solution to repair, namely by implementing a snap ring. Identification of the cause of the problem and the FMEA method will be carried out to determine the influence factors and effectiveness of the snap ring. After identifying the cause of the ESP problem in the ESP cable pothead and analyzing it using the (FMEA) method, there were factors that caused the pothead leak, including the rubber material in the pothead which did not seal, obtaining the highest RPN value of 720, then due to the influence of high temperature and well pressure, and not maintenance is carried out because it requires rig service and shutting down the well. Repairing leaks by applying a snap ring only takes 1 day to work and in terms of material the snap ring is also easier to find. There was an increase in the number of ready-to-use cable stocks after repairs from previously only 138 to 230. These repairs also had an impact in preventing the potential for rig standby for 54 days and preventing a loss of oil production in a day of 270 Bopd worth IDR 163 million. After repairs were carried out, ESP operations were restarted and ran for a period of 2036 days.
