Abstract

In oil and gas well drilling operations are not always smooth according to plan which results in non-productive time (NPT). The study analyzed the non-productive time (NPT) of drilling activities on rigs X, Y, and Z in field A, using the pareto chart method so as to find the type of NPT that was the main problem during the drilling operation time. Furthermore, looking for solutions to fix and improve the performance of X, Y, and Z rigs in conducting drilling operations. Based on the research that has been done, it was found that the operational performance of the three rigs can be known as rigs X and Y have a percentage of work performance with a value of 90% and 92% in completing drilling activities with an NPT percentage value below the company's tolerance value. Rig Z with a percentage of 85% that has NPT above 10% of the value that the company can tolerate. The main causes of NPT on rig X are rig repair and hole problems, for rigs Y and Z have NPT repair rig and uncontrollable classifications. The solution of the NPT repair rig classification is by conducting preventive maintenance, checking critical parts and replacing spare parts with original parts. Uncontrollable classification with matting board installation solutions around wellpads and addition of moving fleets. The solution to classify NPT hole problems by optimizing ROP, mud filters are not too thick, and doing maximum hole clean.
