Abstract

Scale is a precipitate that occurs due to the mixing of two incompatible minerals. These precipitates often occur in flowlines, production lines. and gathering stations, and can disrupt oil and gas production. Scale can also reduce pipe diameter and impede fluid flow, causing a decrease in the production flow rate and damage to production equipment. Generally, scale can be treated with inorganic and organic inhibitors. Currently, organic inhibitors are widely studied because the ingredients are easily available around us and do not require high costs. Inhibitors that use inorganic materials include hydrochloric acid and ethylene diamine tetracetic acid (EDTA). In this research, the main ingredient is Acacia Bark which is mesirated and made into an organic material that will be used to reduce scale. The test results for tanin compounds in acacia bark extract, using a uv-vis spectrophotometer, were found to be 22.15%. This study discusses the comparison of the effects of organic scale inhibitors of acacia bark extract and EDTA 2Na (Ethylene Diamine Tetra Asetat) using concentration levels of 5, 10, 15, and 20 ml, and time variations of 10, 20, and 30 minutes. Based on the research that has been done, it is known that the organic acids of acacia bark extract have an effect on scale reduction, where the reduction efficiency is most effective at 30 minutes with a 20 ml immersion volume of 0.124 with a reduction percentage of 6.2% and the reduction efficiency using EDTA 2Na (ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid) in a 20 ml immersion volume for 30 minutes, namely 0.189 with a reduced percentage of 9.8%.
