Abstract

RUBBER COMMODITY-BASED DEVELOPMENT OF ISOLATED REGIONS IN KAMPAR KIRI HULU DISTRICT CHANDRA ANDIKA 173410081 ABSTRACT Economic problems and development of underdeveloped areas are the main issues in this study, therefore economic and development planning must be part of development planning that continues to develop. Regional development is all actions carried out in the context of utilizing existing regional potentials, to obtain better living conditions and arrangements for the benefit of the community. Kampar Kiri Hulu District is one of the underdeveloped areas in Riau province. Kampar Kiri Hulu District has potential in the rubber plantation sector with an area of 15,418 Ha, so it has the opportunity to increase economic development through the utilization of rubber plantation sector commodities. The purpose of this study is to formulate directions for the development of commodity-based areas for the rubber plantation sector in improving the sustainable community economy in Kampar Kiri Hulu District. To achieve this goal, the things that are done are analyzing the rubber plantation sector to the contribution of the economic level using the Location Quotient (LQ) method, analyzing the income from rubber farmers using the Farming Business Results Analysis and formulating strategies that will be developed to improve the economy using the Rapid Rural Appraisal. The results of this study indicate that rubber is included in the basic commodity because the LQ value shows more than 1 for the last 5 years, in the Analysis of Farming Business Results it is found that the total income of farmers is Rp. 35,560,350/Ha/year with an average profit of Rp. 30,173,570/Ha/year, and also the results of calculating the feasibility ratio is 1.23, which means that the rubber commodity is feasible to be made the main commodity to meet the needs of daily life.
