Abstract

Silek Bungo originated from Pagaruyung, West Sumatra, and spread to the Kampar Regency, including in the village of Foldkain. Silek Bungo in Foldkain Village is different from other areas, because of the addition of the basic steps, from 8 steps to 13 steps. In addition, there are differences in the costumes and accompaniment of the silat music in its development. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate further, so the purpose of this study is to identify and describe the development of Silek Bungo in the village of Foldkain, Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency. This research method is a qualitative descriptive method. The results showed that the development of Silek Bungo in Foldkain Village, Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency underwent several changes in the elements of movement, the costumes used by the fighters, and the accompanying music. In the first period (years 1940-1960) there was no development of the variety of movements, costumes, and musical accompaniment. In the second period (1960-1980) there were five additional movements from the eight Silek Bungo movements so that there were thirteen movements in the second period. While in the third period (in 1980-present) there were no changes and additions to the variety of movements, but there was a determination of costumes in the form of black Malay clothes, the use of sarongs as songkets, and black caps. Then there was also a change in the musical accompaniment from calempong oguang to gondang oguong, namely the addition of tambourine and kompang musical instruments. Meanwhile, the elements of silat in the form of kineme, mode and fighting in Silek Bungo in Foldkain Village consist of thirteen kineme, five modes, and six forms of fighting.
