Abstract

Pekanbaru City is a city that is currently developing and growing rapidly, especially in the economic, trade and industrial sectors. In the city of Pekanbaru there is Jalan Jendral Ahmad Yani where there is heavy traffic activity because there are hospitals, schools, markets and shopping centers. This development has resulted in increased activity conditions for transportation facilities on the roads, especially during busy times. Due to the high traffic activity in transportation facilities, this results in traffic jams, obstacles, and even the risk of accidents on the roads. Seeing the large amount of traffic access that occurs on Jalan Jendral Ahmad Yani, it is necessary to carry out an analysis of the feasibility of the road function to improve safety, security and smooth traffic. This research aims to determine the functional feasibility of the Jendral Ahmad Yani road in the city of Pekanbaru so that it can provide a safe and functional road. This research method is guided by Minister of Public Works Regulation 11/PRT/M/2010 and direct surveys at the location. Based on the road functional worthiness test analysis, it shows that the Jalan Jendral Ahmad Yani section is included in the conditionally functional fittest (LS) category, meaning that the road section is fit for operation but the recommended technical improvements must be carried out. Based on the results of the analysis of calculating the highest volume of vehicles at peak hours, namely 2069.5 pcu/hour. To create a road that is Functionally Worthy, technical improvements must be made. such as repainting markings, adding crossing facilities for pedestrians, repairing sidewalks, pruning tree branches that block traffic signs, handling problematic parking on the road, and repairing road pavement. In this way, it can increase the value of road safety and reduce the level of potential accidents.
