Abstract

The Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) Meranti Islands Regency is a regional technical implementation unit formed by the regional government to provide services for women and children who experience violence, discrimination, special protection and other problems. This research was motivated by the increasing number of cases of sexual violence against children. The problems in this research are: 1. What is the role of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) in providing legal assistance to child victims of sexual violence in the Meeranti Islands Regency, 2. What are the inhibiting factors for the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children? (UPTD PPA) In providing legal assistance to child victims of sexual violence in Meranti Islands Regency. This research method uses field research. The subject of this research is the UPTD PPA Meranti Islands Regency, while the research object is the role of the UPTD PPA Meranti Islands Regency in providing legal assistance to child victims of sexual violence. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews, literature study and documentation. From the results of this research, the author concludes that in the case handling process, the Meranti Islands Regency PPA UPTD carries out the following duties and functions: public complaints, victim outreach, case management, mediation, and victim assistance. Overall, the process of UPTD PPA's role in providing legal assistance to child victims of sexual violence has been implemented well and not so well due to the lack of human resources (HR), budget and lack of public knowledge regarding the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA).
