Abstract

The chili pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is an important agricultural commodity in Indonesia. However, diseases affecting bird's eye chili plants can cause significant losses for farmers. Early detection of diseases in bird's eye chili leaves is essential to prevent their further spread. This study developed a system for identifying diseases in bird's eye chili leaves using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) method. The process involved image acquisition, preprocessing, and feature extraction using the Hue Saturation Value (HSV) method for color and the Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) for texture. The test data comprised five classes: healthy, infected by yellow virus, infected by lice, infected by spots, and infected by mites. The system achieved an accuracy of 88%, demonstrating its potential to help farmers identify diseases quickly and accurately.
