Abstract

Erosion is a process of surface soil degradation caused by natural factors such as water, wind, or ice. This process involves several types of erosion, including exaration, ablation, deflation, and abrasion, which are important for students to understand as part of geography lessons. This research resulted in an Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning application designed to visualize the erosion processes interactively and engagingly for students. Through visualization and interactive approaches, this application aims to address the limitations of conventional learning media, which often only consist of text or images. The development of this application uses the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method, which includes the stages of conceptualization, design, material collection, production, testing, and distribution. The application was created using Blender and Unity software, along with the Vuforia SDK library and markerless techniques to display 3D animations. Application testing was conducted at distances of 30–500 cm with a minimum light intensity of 16 lux to ensure optimal visualization, both indoors and outdoors. Evaluation results from 30 respondents showed that the application achieved a percentage index score of 88.42%, categorized as “Strongly Agree” as a learning medium. This application is expected to facilitate students in understanding the concept of erosion and increase their interest in learning geography through a more interactive and enjoyable learning experience. Additionally, this application is accessible on Android devices, enabling users to study the material anytime and anywhere.
