Abstract

Boarding house or boarding/boarding house is a service that offers a room or place to stay with a certain amount of payment for each certain period (generally payment per month). This word is derived from the Dutch phrase "in de kost". The definition of "in de boarding" actually means "eating inside", but it can also mean "staying and eating" in the house where you live (Sanjaya & Oktafianto, 2017). The need for a safe, comfortable and strategic place to live is an important factor for students, especially for those from outside the city. Around Riau Islamic University, there are many choices of men's boarding houses that vary in terms of facilities, price and location. However, with so many choices available, students often face difficulties in determining the boarding house that best suits their needs. The aim of this research is to have a decision support system for users in choosing boarding houses a place to live or male boarding houses for students, especially in the area around the Riau Islamic University campus. For men around the Riau Islamic University campus, make it easier for students to find information about boarding houses in the Riau Islamic University area, provide recommendations to students with the desired boarding house specifications, and provide information regarding prices, facilities, safety, cleanliness and location offered. This system is designed to make it easier for students to choose boarding houses according to the desired criteria, and creates a web-based decision support system using the SAW method to make it easier for students by providing information about men's boarding houses around the Riau Islamic University campus. Based on the results of the system implementation value, the questionnaire value was 86% and this decision support system was able to provide recommendation results, with a high level of accuracy. Thus, it is hoped that this decision support system can be an effective tool in finding and choosing a place to live or boarding house for students, especially in the area around the Riau Islamic University campus.
