Abstract
The choice of mode occurs as a result of the need for movement, and movement occurs because of the process of fulfilling needs. Work trips are the main trips that must be done routinely by everyone every day. This type of trip will cause a large increase in traffic volume because it is carried out during rush hours. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the choice of transportation modes of working residents in Pangkalan Kerinci District to their workplaces and to determine the influence of the most dominant factors in choosing workers' modes. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. The descriptive method is used to describe the characteristics of the community in choosing transportation modes. While the quantitative method is used to analyze the dominant factors in influencing the choice of transportation modes of residents to their workplaces with factor analysis of the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method and multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS 26 software. The results of this study are the characteristics of travelers at a percentage of 57% female gender, have private vehicles at 93%, have a driver's license at 70%, and belong to an income group with 1,000,000-3,000,000 at a percentage of 47%. Travel characteristic factors at a percentage of 46% distance < 1 km, time of travel in the morning 89%. Transportation system facility characteristic factors at a percentage of 60% travel time < 15 minutes, travel costs < 15,000 at a percentage of 51%, security considerations 97%, comfort considerations 94%. In data processing using PCA factor analysis, there are 7 dominant factors, namely vehicle ownership, driving license ownership, income, distance, travel time, cost, and comfort. The results of the regression equation obtained Y = 0.860 + 0.385 X1 + 0.014 X2.
