Abstract

Cementing is a process of pushing cement slurry into the wellbore through the casing to the casing-formation annulus and left for a while until it dries and hardens so that it can lay the casing with the formation. One of the problems that often occurs during the cementing process is the hardening of cement to the cementing point, therefore it is necessary to add reterder additives in order to increase the thickening time of drilling cement, in this study using lignosulfonate additives from the extraction of salak pondoh fronds using the extraction method by adding 20% NaOH, H2SO4 and 20% NHSO3 chemicals, while the variant concentration of lignosulfonate tested starts from 0%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 4%. The thickening time test results from the concentration variants of these additives are 137 minutes, 152 minutes, 179 minutes, 198 minutes and 182 minutes respectively, from these tests the thickening time value will be longer as the lignosulfonate concentration increases. The compressive strength test results with the same concentration variant are 1822.63 psi, 1646.58 psi, 1495.48 psi, 1244.37 psi and 1031.04 psi and the last value of shear bond strength from testing with the same concentration is 304.75 psi, 219.66 psi, 177.25 psi, 126.62 psi and 102.28 psi, from the test results the compressive strength and shear bond strength values will be lower if the addition of lignosulfonate concentration is higher.
