Abstract

This invention aims to assist farmers in converting oil palm fronds into animal feed efficiently, thereby reducing waste and increasing productivity. The main feature capacity of the machine is designed to handle up to 500 kg/hour of oil palm fronds. The research methodology involves a systematic approach to studying a particular topic. Involving various stages, from literature review to data collection and analysis. This document discusses a specific study focused on analyzing the effectiveness of a machine for chopping oil palm fronds, detailing operational parameters and testing procedures. This study focuses on the design and analysis of a machine for chopping oil palm fronds, which aims to improve efficiency for farmers. The main results show the performance of the machine at various operating speeds, specifically 1500 rpm and 2000 rpm, which provide insight into the capacity and effectiveness of the machine. At 1500 rpm, the average weight of shredded fronds was recorded at 26.94 kg during several tests. Additional tests were conducted at higher RPMs (2000, 2500, and 3000) to evaluate performance variations. The machine is equipped with a maximum capacity of 500 kg/h, calculated from the initial weight of the fronds. Specifically designed for shredding oil palm fronds and grass, it is not suitable for plastic or other materials due to the difference in blade design. By using this machine, farmers can save time in the shredding process, increase productivity in feed preparation. The machine runs on gasoline and has four blades that produce pieces of about 1-2 cm in size. The machine uses a belt transmission system to drive the blades.
