Abstract

Most of the world's oil reserves, especially in Indonesia, are already in the mature stage. So, in overcoming this problem, Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) is needed to increase oil production from mature reservoirs. The Alkaline Surfactant Polymer (ASP) flooding combination process is carried out by injecting chemicals gradually to increase displacement efficiency and expand sweep efficiency. To determine whether the ASP flooding process is successful, it is necessary to analyze the ASP flooding mechanism based on the parameters of injected viscosity, IFT, and adsorption in heterogeneous reservoirs. In addition, it is necessary to analyze oil production performance such as cumulative oil and recovery factor in heterogeneous reservoirs. This research is conducted reservoir simulation using Computer Modeling Group (CMG) software with STARS simulator. The reservoir character used is a type of heterogeneous sandstone reservoir with variations in permeability and porosity in each grid reservoir model. Seven ASP flooding injection scenarios were developed. Scenario 1 is done by injecting 1500 ppm HPAM. In scenario 2, 2000 ppm HPAM, 1 wt% AEC, and 1 wt% Na2CO3 were injected. And in scenario 3 is done by injecting 2500 ppm HPAM, 2 wt% AEC, and 1 wt% Na2CO3. Scenario 4 is done by injecting 2500 ppm HPAM, 1 wt% AEC, and 1 wt% Na2CO3. Scenario 5 was conducted by injecting 2000 ppm HPAM, 2 wt% AEC, and 1 wt% Na2CO3. Scenario 6, 2 wt% AEC surfactant was injected. Scenario 7, 1 wt% Na2CO3 alkali was injected. The simulation model was designed for 10 years from 2024 to 2034. In the analysis of the ASP flooding mechanism, the best injected viscosity is in scenario 5 with an optimum value of 10.26 cp, the lowest interfacial tension value is in scenario 6 at 1.15 x 10-2 dyne/cm, the lowest polymer adsorption value is in scenario 1 at 99.9 x 10-6 lbmole/ft3, and the lowest surfactant adsorption value is in scenario 4 at 2.1256 x 10-9 lbmole/ft3. In the oil production performance value, the largest cumulative oil value is in scenario 5 which is 1.77089 x 106 bbl, and the largest recovery value is in scenario 5 which is 90.92%.
