Abstract

Public space is one of the important components in urban spatial planning, therefore it needs to be considered in terms of quality and function. The quality of the public space itself can be seen from three aspects, namely the aspect of needs, the aspect of rights, and the aspect of meaning and also the need for the development of the public space itself. Aero Park is one of the public spaces in the city of Pekanbaru, this park is located on Jalan KH. Nasution. The Aero Park has several facilities including toilets, and parking lots, and there are also several children's games. However, there are still some things that must be considered such as the need for additional lighting in the parking lot, and the need for hardening in the parking lot. This study aims to develop a strategy for the development of public space, especially the Aero Park in Pekanbaru City. This research uses explanatory research with mixed methods and uses scoring analysis and DIVE analysis to develop strategies for developing public spaces in Aero Park. Based on the results of the research, shows that the aspects of needs, aspects of rights, and aspects of meaning in this Aero Park that get a good score are trash cans, seats, kiosks, and diversity of activities, those that score quite well are lighting, toilets, fences barriers, vegetation, barriers between vehicle lanes, playgrounds, parking lots, accessibility, and easy to identify. As for the development strategy, based on the existing conditions and the assessment of park users, it is necessary to develop some things, both from the aspects of needs, rights, and meaning. From the aspect of needs, namely for lighting, it still needs to be added at several angles such as in the parking lot for 2-wheeled vehicles, for toilets it is still necessary to keep it clean, it is necessary to make barriers between vehicle lanes, especially in 2-wheeled parking lots. From the aspect of rights, namely parking lots needs to be hardened, needs to pay attention to access in and out because it is on the side of the collector road. And for the aspect of meaning, namely the need for a barrier between areas to make it more comfortable in activities.Strategy, Public space, and DIVE
