Abstract

The addition of Crumb Rubber to the AC - BC coated asphalt mixture in the preservation of Jalan Subrantas (Pekanbaru) – West Sumatra Province Boundary Km.107+550 to Km.109+450 is useful for reducing the possibility of cracking and rutting, reducing aging (oxidation), increases skid resistance, and lowers noise levels. The aim of this research is to determine the comparison and properties of each characteristic of Marshall AC-BC modified Crumb Rubber asphalt and conventional AC-BC. The comparative method is used to find out which asphalt mixture is more optimal with the proportion of conventional asphalt aggregate mixture: Coarse aggregate 14.18%, Medium aggregate 37.82%, Fine aggregate 40.66%, and filler 1.88%, and Crumb Rubber asphalt mixture Coarse aggregate 18.84%, medium aggregate 42.39%, fine aggregate 31.09%, and filler 1.88%. Test analysis of the asphalt mixture with materials from the two quarries used secondary data obtained from the PT laboratory. Pebana Adi Sarana, located on Jalan Lintas West Sumatra – Riau Pangkalan Km. 182. The results of the optimum asphalt content (KAO) analysis for conventional asphalt were 5.42%, and Crumb Rubber asphalt was 5.80% and Marshall obtained mixture characteristic values for conventional asphalt mixtures VIM (4.22%), VMA (14.49% ), VFA (70.87%), stability (1054.3Kg), Flow (2.98mm), MQ (353.4Kg/mm), and asphalt Crumb Rubber VIM (4.48%), VMA (16.52 %), VFA (72.89%), stability (1200.3Kg), Flow (3.53mm), MQ (339.7Kg/mm). The Marshall characteristic results for conventional asphalt mixtures and crumb rubber modified asphalt have met the 2018 Bina Marga general specifications (Revision 2), and the 2015 Bina Marga interim-3 special specifications. The JMF produced from crumb rubber modified asphalt is more optimal than conventional asphalt mixtures.
