iv ASSESSMENT THE QUALITY OF PUBLIC SPACE USING GOOD PUBLIC SPACE INDEX ANALYSIS (CASE STUDY: RAUN-RAUN KOTA PEKANBARU) DEDEN MAHENDRA 183410025 ABSTRACT The current population of Pekanbaru City is 994,58 people and continues to increase. In line with that, public space is needed in Pekanbaru City as a means of recreation and entertainment for city residents. Raun-Raun on Arifin Ahmad Street is a public space that is visited a lot and has a strategic location, but it is necessary to pay attention to the criteria, function and quality of Raun-Raun as a public space in order to find out to what extent Raun-Raun can be said to be a public space and to what extent the quality of Raun-Raun as a public space. The purpose of this research is to identify the criteria and functions of Raun-Raun as a public space and to identify the quality of Raun-Raun as a public space. The research method used is mixed research methods. Qualitative methods are used to determine the extent to which Raun-Raun fulfills the criteria and functions of public spaces, while quantitative methods are used to determine the quality of Raun-Raun as public spaces by using analysis Good Public Space Index. The results of this study conclude that Raun-Raun is able to meet all the criteria of a public space, namely easy access, clear information, a beautiful place, fulfilling the wishes of visitors, a safe and comfortable place, a place to relax, has its own characteristics and can accommodate all of society. Raun-Raun is also able to fulfill 3 of the 4 functions of public space, namely as a center for interaction, as a forum for economic activity and as the lungs of the city. Meanwhile, the quality of Raun-Raun itself is included in the good category based on the total value of the entire index, which amounts to 4.79. Keywords: Criteria and Function of Public Space.
