Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of lecturer and student communication on student motivation in the process of writing the final project at FIKOM, Islamic University of Riau. Which is where the effectiveness of interpersonal communication as the independent variable is denoted by (X) and Student Motivation as the dependent variable which is denoted by (Y). This type of research is associative which aims to find out the relationship between two or more variables with a quantitative approach, because this research uses data in the form of numbers that can be counted. The population in this study were FIKOM students who were in the process of writing their final project with a total of 293 people. Probability sampling technique is a sampling technique that provides equal opportunities or opportunities for each element or member of the population to be selected as a sample and the sampling method used is random sampling, which is a random sampling technique, without taking into account the existing strata in the population. With a simple random sampling of FIKOM students totaling 75 people. The statistical measurement of the sample in this study was carried out using a computer program statistical package for social science (SPSS), to determine the significance of the difference in the mean value of each variable. The results show that the effectiveness of interpersonal communication has an influence on student motivation.
