Abstract
This research aimed to determine whether there was an influence of student centered learning methods on students’ learning interest in Arabic at Imam Asy Syafii Junior High School two Pekanbaru. This research was an experimental study with a pre-test and post-tests design. The population of this study was 30 students from ninth grade classes A and B of Imam Asy Syafii Junior High School two Pekanbaru. Data collection was conducted by administering a questionnaire consisting of statements, while data analysis used statistical techniques such as paired samples t-test with the assistance of SPSS version 22. The results of the study indicated a significant difference (sig. 0.000) between students who had not received treatment and those who had been treated using the Student Centered Learning method. Furthermore, the Student Centered Learning method was proven effective in increasing students' interest in learning, as seen in the significant difference (Sig. 0.000) between the pre-test and post-tests. It is hoped that future researchers would explore different types of research methodologies.
