Abstract

This research was motivated by the fact that there were still students who lacked discipline in learning, as evidenced by students who did not do their homework, arrived late to school, and wore incomplete school uniforms. However, in general, parents had provided sufficient attention to the students, such as attending school meetings, contributing to school events, inquiring about their child's behavior from teachers, providing study facilities, and asking about homework. Thus, the problem formulated was whether there was an influence of parental attention on the learning discipline of seventh and eighth grade students at Junior High School IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru. This study aimed to determine the influence of parental attention on learning discipline in Islamic Education subjects at Junior High School IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru. The research method used was a survey with a quantitative approach. The population in this study was all students at Junior High School IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru, with the sampling technique used being total sampling, resulting in a sample of 57 students from seventh and eighth grade at Junior High School IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru. Data collection was done by distributing questionnaires and documentation. The results of descriptive analysis showed that the majority of parents were reported to be attentive, and the majority of respondents also agreed on learning discipline. The hypothesis test results using the F-test obtained a significance value of 0.000<0.05, thus it was concluded that there was an influence of parental attention on the discipline of students in adhering to school rules at Junior High School IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru.
