Abstract

ABSTRACT THE STRATEGIES OF ISLAMIC STUDIES TEACHER IN IMPROVING INDEPENDENT LEARNING SKILLS AT SMP IT INSAN UTAMA 2 PEKANBARU DETI FACHRA SAHITA 192410257 The subject of Islamic Studies is an important subject. The hope of students’ parents is that their children will be nurtured and equipped with the Islamic teachings so that they will become believed and pious people. The aim of the study is to find out the strategies of Islamic Studies teacher in improving students’ independent learning skills. This is a case study conducted at SMP IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru. The type of the study is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques of the study are interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that the strategies of Islamic Studies teacher in improving students’ independent learning skills at SMP IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru are by building good relationships with students, giving appropriate and relevant praise with student progress, giving awards or rewards that can motivate students, doing habituation in school, providing teaching materials to students, and collaborating with group friends in religious learning at school. The strategies for improving students’ independent learning skills at SMP IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru in learning Islamic Studies experience adequate and successful improvement as evidenced by the number of students who are more confident and enthusiastic in learning and so on.
