Abstract

Drilling is the most critical, dangerous, complex and expensive operation in the oil and gas industry. It cannot be denied that in reality there are many unplanned problems (unscheduled events) which result in non-productive time (NPT) encountered during drilling operations which sometimes cause unpredictable budget usage and can also result in delays in hydrocarbon production. This research was carried out by analyzing 50 wells that had been drilled in the PS field. In this research, the process of evaluating rig performance was carried out by analyzing non-productive time using a Pareto chart to determine the main causal factors that cause NPT, and develop mitigation analysis to reduce NPT. Based on the research that has been carried out, the results show that the main factor causing NPT on rig A is the RREQ problem in Pipe Handling with a duration of 3 hours and a loss of 1875 US$. On Rig B, it was caused by SW on Stuck CBL Logging tool, and WO Rig equipment with a duration of 24 hours each and a loss of 1500 US$. Rig C was caused by EQP replacement on WH with a duration of 6.5 hours and a loss of 4062.5 US$. And on Rig D, it was caused by WO Rig equipment with a duration of 57 hours and a loss of 35,625 US$.
