Abstract
his study aimed to explore the strategies implemented by SMP YLPI P. Marpoyan Pekanbaru in increasing students' interest in learning Arabic and identify the students’ interest in learning this subject. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with the data collection technique of the interview with several key informants, namely the school principal, a curriculum coordinator,an Arabic language teacher, and several students. The results of the study showed that the school implemented several strategies to increase students’ interest in learning Arabic, including by creating a multilingual environment, providing learning media, and using interactive learning methods. The support from teachers and parents was also an important factor in building student interest. However, there were several challenges faced, including limited study time and limited technological facilities. Nevertheless, the majority of students showed a positive interest in learning Arabic, especially because of the connection between Arabic and religious values and future opportunities. Overall, the strategies implemented by the school were successful in creating the students’ interest in learning Arabic. For the further development, it is needed to focus on the aspects of learning media and time allocation to increase learning effectiveness.
