Abstract
Roads are one of the land connecting infrastructures that have an important part in realizing economic, social, cultural and political growth in a region. Road damage is a road pavement that does not match the original pavement shape, road damage generally occurs due to excessive traffic loads, poor road work, poor initial quality of road products, and temperature/weather. The Simpang Perak - Kerinci Pelalawan, Riau road section can be categorized as a district road with quite dense traffic. The method used to assess the condition of the road surface is the Surface Distress Index (SDI) method. The SDI method is a road performance scale used to assess the condition of the road pavement. The purpose and objective of using this SDI method is to make it easier for researchers to carry out damage assessments on the Simpang Perak - Kerinci Pelalawan, Riau road section. With a total length of the road section surveyed/surveyed is 2 km with a road width of 7.10 m with a flexible (flexible pavement) type and is a secondary local road.Based on the analysis results using the SDI method, it shows that good conditions are 95%, moderate 5%, lightly damaged 0%, and severely damaged 0%, the length of good conditions is 900 m with an average SDI value of all road sections of 16.5. Based on the analysis of damage on the Simpang Perak - Kerinci Pelalawan road section, Riau STA 00 + 000 to STA 02 + 000, the assessment of road damage according to the SDI method contains 4 elements of damage including the percentage of damage to the area of cracks, average crack width, number of holes, and average depth of rutting/ruts. On this road section, the damage that occurred included crocodile skin cracks, longitudinal/line cracks, holes, grain detachment and peeling and patches, but on this road section there was no rutting/rut damage. Assessment of road conditions using the SDI method can provide an overview of the level of damage on the Simpang Perak - Kerinci Pelalawan road section, Riau, which can be used as a database for planning and implementing routine road repairs and maintenance. Where on this road section the type of handling that can be done is routine maintenance.
