Abstract

Every change and development that occurs in society has a positive impact and a negative impact, the negative impact that occurs from changes and developments in society is crime. One of them is the crime of embezzlement, embezzlement is an abuse of trust that always involves unlawfully possessing an item entrusted to the person who embezzled it. The problems raised in this study are a criminological review of the factors that cause embezzlement crimes in the Legal Area of Bukit Raya Police Pekanbaru City, and how efforts to overcome embezzlement crimes in the Legal Area of Bukit Raya Police Pekanbaru City. The research method used in this research is empirical legal research, by conducting interviews directly. With the nature of this research is descriptive analytical, namely describing in detail which intends to provide a complete picture and description of the investigation process in the crime of embezzlement in the jurisdiction of Bukit Raya Pekanbaru Police. Based on the results of the research, the factors that influence embezzlement crimes in the jurisdiction of the Bukit Raya Police Station in Pekanbaru City are weak faith and religious understanding, economic factors and environmental factors. Efforts to overcome embezzlement crimes are legal counseling related to crime and provide lessons on legal arrangements related to crime, so as to minimize the perpetrators of committing crimes. The police take various actions such as arrest, detention, confiscation of evidence, use of physical force to handle the situation, and application of the law in the form of strict law enforcement.
