Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the application of visual media in Arabic learning at SDIT Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru and to determine the obstacles in applying visual media in Arabic learning. This is a descriptive qualitative study. The data collection techniques of the study are observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that the application of visual media in Arabic learning at SDIT Darul Hikmah is the visual media without a projector. In preparation, the teachers do not select the media materials that suit students’ needs and criteria, so that in its application, there are some students who are still less interested and the learning becomes less optimal, but by applying the visual media, the students find it easy to memorize the vocabulary. The obstacles in applying visual media are: there are some students who still have difficulty in writing Arabic and the Arabic learning is learnt at midday so that the students often get bored and tired which causes them to lack focus in learning.
