Abstract
City parks are a type of public green open space that is used as a place to spend holidays or free time which is busy with visitors. Bagansiapiapi City Park has a main function (Intrinsic), namely an ecological function, additional functions (Extrinsic), namely a socio-cultural function, an economic function, and an aesthetic function, as well as landscape elements (hard and soft elements). However, the problem with Bagansiapiapi City Park is the lack of intrinsic, and extrinsic functions and landscape elements in the Bagansiapiapi city park. This research aims to identify the functions of city parks, namely intrinsic and extrinsic functions such as ecological functions, social and cultural functions, economic functions and aesthetic functions, and landscape elements (hard and soft elements). The analytical method used is a qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation and in-depth interviews. The type of research used is explanatory. There were 8 informants in this research, namely visitors, heads of administration and parks, and food and toy traders. The targets to be achieved are: (a). Identify landscape elements (hard and soft elements), (b). Identify intrinsic functions and extrinsic functions. The results of this research are that the landscape elements (hard and soft elements) there is damaged and a lack number of facilities in the park, both in the form of hard and soft elements, as well as the amount of vegetation, is not yet optimal. In intrinsic and extrinsic functions, where intrinsic functions such as ecological functions have not been maintained by plants, they still cause puddles of water when it rains, air absorption is still not good enough. Extrinsic functions such as social and cultural functions lack social interaction, there are no plant nameplates. The economic function of traders who open businesses in city parks makes city parks closed and narrow. The aesthetic function is a lack of beauty in the garden, such as an unclean garden, and inadequate garden colors.
