Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning motivation skills of students at Islamic Junior High School 1 Meranti Island. A student needed to have learning motivation because it greatly determined the success or failure of the learning process. Learning without motivation was considered very difficult to succeed. The research problem was how significant the influence of reward and punishment was on students' learning motivation in Fiqh subjects at Islamic Junior High School 1 Meranti Island. The purpose of this research was to determine the infleunce of reward and punishment on students' learning motivation in Fiqh subjects at Islamic Junior High School 1 Meranti Island. This study used a quantitative correlational method. The research population consisted of 7th-grade students, totaling 226 students, with a sample of 145 students. Data collection used questionnaires and documentation. The results showed that the hypothesis test yielded a value of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that Ha was accepted, indicating that there was an influence of reward and punishment on students' learning motivation in Fiqh subjects at Islamic Junior High School 1 Meranti Island. The magnitude of the effect could be seen in the summary table, with an R square value of 0.439 or 43.9%. This indicated that learning motivation was influenced by reward and punishment by 43.9%, categorized as "fairly good."
