Abstract

THE EFFECT OF THE SCIENTIFIC APPROACH ON DIVERGENT THINKING SKILLS OF GRADE XI STUDENTS AT ISLAMIC SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1 PEKANBARU By MULYA REZKY SARDI 202410005 This study was motivated by the low level of divergent thinking skills among students at Islamic Senior High School 1 Pekanbaru. Divergent thinking skills were crucial for students as they helped in solving problems and finding various solutions to issues. The research problem was to determine the level of the scientific approach, the level of divergent thinking, and the extent to which the scientific approach influenced the improvement of divergent thinking skills among Grade XI students at Islamic Senior High School 1 Pekanbaru. The objective of this study was to identify the level of the scientific approach, the level of divergent thinking, and the influence of the scientific approach on the divergent thinking skills of Grade XI students at Islamic Senior High School 1 Pekanbaru. This study used a correlational quantitative approach. The sampling technique employed was saturated sampling, which included the entire population of Grade XI students from classes XI 1, XI 2, and XI 3, totaling 83 students. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation. The results showed that the level of the scientific approach was 84%, categorized as very good, and the level of divergent thinking was 82%, also categorized as very good. Data analysis indicated that the hypothesis regarding the influence of the scientific approach on students' divergent thinking was accepted, with a significance value of 0.000. The degree of influence of the scientific approach on students' divergent thinking skills was categorized as moderate, with a value of 0.563 or 56.3%. It was predicted that if the scientific approach was improved, students' divergent thinking skills would increase by 0.685 or 68.5%. Based on these findings, it was concluded that there was a significant influence of the scientific approach on the divergent thinking skills of Grade XI students at Islamic Senior High School 1 Pekanbaru.
