Abstract

However, traditional drying has disadvantages, namely that the material being dried is in direct contact with unclean environmental air, requires a large area and is difficult to control, especially during the rainy season, which results in the drying process takes a long time. Therefore, a drying technology was developed that uses solar collectors. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of variations in the angle of inclination of the collector plate on the performance of the rack type cassava dryer and variations in the angle of inclination which had the best performance of the rack type cassava dryer. The cassava to be tested is 4 kg for 2 units of equipment, each tool containing 2 kg. And the angle of inclination of the collector plate that will be varied is 35°, 45° and 55°. It turns out that the angle of inclination of the collector plate influences the performance of the rack-type cassava dryer, a higher slope gets more sunlight, thus affecting the drying performance. The angle of inclination of the collector plate which has the best performance of the rack type cassava dryer of all the parameters that have been tested is the angle of inclination of the collector plate at an angle of 55°.
