Abstract
This research is motivated by the problem of Quran reading ability among students at SMP Da'wah Pekanbaru. It is found that there are still some students who are not proficient in reading the Quran, and even find it difficult to read the Quran. This study aims to determine the efforts of Islamic education teachers in improving students' Quran reading ability at SMP Da'wah Pekanbaru. This is a qualitative research with descriptive analysis. Data collection methods used observation, interviews, and documentation. Data processing was taken from the time the researcher was in the field and after the data was collected from the field. The results of this study conclude that the efforts of Islamic education teachers in improving students' Quran reading ability at SMP Da'wah Pekanbaru are carried out by being exemplary educators, understanding student characteristics, creating an innovative learning atmosphere, and recognizing student potential. The efforts of Islamic education teachers in improving students' Quran reading ability at SMP Da'wah Pekanbaru have also been carried out well. Supporting factors for teachers in improving students' Quran reading ability at SMP Da'wah Pekanbaru are facilities and infrastructure, teaching methods, and teachers actively acting as students' friends. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are limited time and students who are still lacking in discipline.
