Abstract
The background of the study is the problem of the learning outcomes in some students at SDN 0106 Sibuhuan Jae, Barumun District, Padang Lawas Regency, where there are many shortcomings from some students whose learning outcomes are still low or under the passing grade. In addition, the teachers also lack of expertise in understanding the implementation of teaching methods. The problem formulation of the study is to find out whether the implementation of drill method can improve students’ outcomes in learning Islamic Studies at SDN 0106 Sibuhuan Jae. The type of the study is classroom action research (CAR). The population of the study consists of 20 students in grade VI at SDN 0106 Sibuhuan Jae. The data collection techniques of the study are observation, questionnaires, tests and documentation. The results of the study show that the students’ learning outcomes before implementing the drill method was 40% or included in a low category. After implemeting the drill method in cycle I, the students’ learning outcomes increased to 60% with a satisfying category, then it was carried out in cycle II that the students’ learning outcomes experienced a significant increase, namely 80% with a very satisfying category. In conclusion, the implementation of the drill method can improve students’ outcomes in learning Islamic Studies on the lesson material “the beauty of mutual respect” in grade VI at SDN 0106 Sibuhuan Jae, Padang Lawas Regency.
