Abstract

Based on the definition of mob violence above, it has been regulated in Article 170 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code which reads as follows: "Anyone who openly and with joint force uses violence against people or property, shall be subject to a maximum imprisonment of five years and six months". The table shows from 2022 to 2023. The number reported each year has increased. In 2022, the number of cases was 8 cases. However, in 2023, mob violence cases increased to 9 cases. The main problem of this study is How is the Law Enforcement Against the Crime of Mob Attack in the Form of Taking the Law into One's Own Hand in the Jurisdiction of the Sukajadi Police? And What are the Obstacles to the Law Enforcement Against the Crime of Mob Attack in the Form of Taking the Law into One's Own Hand in the Jurisdiction of the Sukajadi Police? The research method used in this study is Observational Research by means of a survey where this research is conducted directly in the field. With the nature of analytical descriptive research, this method is intended to see a legal reality that exists in the midst of society. The results of the police interview are that the preventive efforts made by the Sukajadi Police against the crime of mob violence are to provide counseling and community development. However, if we look at the many acts of mob violence, it is certain that these efforts are still lacking. Efforts that can be made by the police are legal education, socialization, community empowerment, rapid response, careful collection of evidence, protection of witnesses and victims, firm action, participation in problem solving, rejecting vigilante actions, public education.
