Abstract
This study is motivated by problems found at the school, such as the students’ lack of awareness of being disciplined, the students keep arriving late and the students do not do their picket resposibilities. Therefore, the writer is interested in doing a study about them. The problem formulation of the study is: what are the efforts of Islamic studies teachers to improve students’ discipline characters at the sixth grade of SD IT Sakinah Pandau Jaya?. This is a qualitative study with a descriptive approach which describes the efforts of Islamic Studies teachers to improve students’ discipline characters at the sixth grade of SD IT Sakinah Pandau Jaya. The study was conducted at SD IT Sakinah located in Gading Marpoyan Housing complex, Pandau Jaya Village. The key informants of the study are Islamic Studies teachers and the supporting informants are the school principal and students. The data collection techniques of the study are interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that the efforts made by the Islamic Studies teachers to improve the students’ discipline characters at the sixth grade are by being a role model, providing habituation, giving punishment and giving rewards.
