Abstract

Welding is the joining of two or more metals by softening some base metal and filler metal apart from strain and additional metals and producing a connection thatconnects each other. The purpose of this study was to obtain hardness strength, bending strength and microstructure at the SUP9A leaf spring steel welding jointswith various variations of V, X and double U potency. The welding process uses an SMAW welding machine with a current of 90 A, E7018 electrode wire diameter of2.6 mm, the material used is SUP9A leaf spring steel with a thickness of 10 mm.The results showed that hardness testing with potency V and double U got the highest average hardness value in the weld area of 28.8 HRc, while for the highestaverage bending strength value found in potency V of 160.1 MPa and the lowest average bending value in potency X of 115.6 MPa, then in microstructure testingpotency V and and double U have soft material properties because the ferrite phaseis more dominant than The perlite phase while for the X phase has hard material properties because the perlite phase is more dominant than the ferrite phase.
