Abstract

The development of criminal acts along with the development of the times is increasingly rampant. This is inseparable from the development of the times that are increasingly sophisticated so that it is possible that the mode of the perpetrators of criminal acts themselves is also increasingly sophisticated, both in terms of thinking (mode) and in terms of technology. This development greatly influences various parties/individuals to do various ways to fulfill their desires, namely by justifying all means that have an impact on the losses that will be suffered by someone later. One form of loss experienced by someone who is a victim of a crime is a loss in terms of wealth. Therefore, to protect someone from their wealth, the Criminal Code places acts that can cause losses to wealth as crimes against wealth as regulated in Book II of the Criminal Code. Among several criminal acts related to wealth and objects, there is a criminal act known as embezzlement where abuse of trust dominates as the main element in the occurrence of this crime. The problems that will be discussed in this study are, first, how are the efforts to overcome the crime of embezzlement by the Tambusai Police in the jurisdiction of the Tambusai Police?, and second, what are the factors that cause the crime of embezzlement?. This type of research uses empirical legal research, by means of a survey, namely this research was carried out by the author directly in the field to obtain information and data related to the research that the author did. The location of the research that the author did was at the Tambusai Police, Rokan Hulu. The data used in this study came from primary data and secondary data, namely data obtained directly from respondents about the object being studied (as the main data). The data collection tool technique used in this study was by interview. The data obtained were then analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method which was then concluded using the deductive conclusion drawing method. The results of this study are first, Efforts to overcome the crime of embezzlement in the Tambusai Police area are efforts to overcome the crime of embezzlement carried out based on Police Reports which are one form of effort made by the Tambusai Police, carried out through arrests, confiscation, detention, examination of witnesses, examination of suspects, imposition of criminal sanctions. The second is the factors causing the crime of embezzlement in the Tambusai Police area are internal and external factors. Internal factors are the drive that occurs from within oneself, while external factors are factors that are created from outside oneself, these factors can be said to be quite complex and varied. Social disparities, economic disparities, injustice, etc., are examples of causes of criminal acts that originate from outside oneself.
