Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that there are still many students who are reluctant to perform congregational prayers even though PAI teachers have advised them, when the scheduled prayer time arrives there are still students who do not immediately go to the prayer room to take ablution water and perform congregational prayers. Some of them actually do other activities that may be less beneficial. The objectives of this research are: 1) To determine the efforts of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in Forming Congregational Prayer Discipline for Class VII Students at SMP Negeri 6 Siak Hulu. 2) To find out what obstacles Islamic Religious Education teachers have in establishing discipline in congregational prayer for Class VII students at SMP Negeri 6 Siak Hulu. The method used in this research is a qualitative method carried out at SMP Negeri 6 Siak Hulu using interview and documentation methods. The informant in this research was the Islamic Religious Education teacher at SMP Negeri 6 Siak Hulu. Then the technical data analysis used to answer this research problem is data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that there are efforts by Islamic Religious Education teachers to shape the discipline of congregational prayer for class VII students at SMP Negeri 6 Siak Hulu. This can be seen from his efforts, namely providing an example, giving advice (mauidloh), getting used to it, carrying out supervision, providing motivation and encouragement to students to be able to increase discipline in carrying out congregational prayers. And there are facts about the obstacles experienced by Islamic Religious Education teachers in improving students' congregational prayer discipline, namely: 1) The lack of space for prayer rooms and ablution places in schools. 2) Student behavior. 3) Lack of students' understanding of the importance of congregational prayer. 4) Follow-up supervision from the family environment is still lacking.
