Abstract

Technological developments in the industrial sector are currently developing well because more and more technological updates have been made and developed to facilitate human work. In the manufacture and development of technology must require a complex sistem. Especially technologies related to fluid mechanics such as fluid flow discharge parameters. Therefore, the importance of a fluid flow rate meter is to measure the flow rate in the fluid that occurs in the pipe. The measuring instrument used is certainly sophisticated, making it easier to read the fluid flow rate and has a high accuracy value. But the pressure loss is also caused by the velocity of the fluid itself. In piping systems, head losses are very detrimental in fluid flow, because head losses can reduce the level of efficiency in fluid flow. In general, head losses can be classified into 2 parts, namely : major losses and minor losses. The purpose of this study was to find out how the influence of the fluid flow rate and also the pressure head on the pressure loss (head losses) on a flow measuring device with a 90 0 pipe connection and branch tee (branch flow). The results show that a low head loss occurs in the 90 0 pipe connection, which is 13,07 mm with a discharge of 10 L/minute, while a large head loss occurs in the tee branch pipe connection, namely 70,73 mm with a flow rate of 23 L/minute. The greater the value of the discharge or the pressure hight, the greater the value of head losses and the greater the pressure loss caused by these head losses.
