Abstract

Credit activities in the community are growing rapidly. The pattern of providing credit by Financial Institutions to the community is manifested in various forms. In practice, credit activities always give rise to new legal problems because the legal regulations governing credit are still partial, causing disharmony between one regulation and another. The author formulates the main problem to be discussed regarding how problematic credit is at PT. Bank Perkreditan Rakyat (BPR) Pekanbaru Madani in Pekanbaru City and how to resolve problematic credit at PT. Bank Perkreditan Rakyat (BPR) Pekanbaru Madani in Pekanbaru City. This type of research is empirical legal research using observational or field research by means of direct surveys in the field. The types of data used in this study come from primary and secondary data. Primary data is obtained through interviews. Meanwhile, secondary data is obtained from the results of library research. The nature of this research is descriptive analytical which provides a picture of a research object through the data that has been collected. Based on the results of the study, it can be understood that problematic credit at PT. Bank Perkreditan Rakyat (BPR) Pekanbaru Madani reached around 15% of the total credit portfolio, triggered by factors such as unstable economic conditions and declining purchasing power. The bank's efforts to overcome this problem include credit restructuring and increasing education for debtors about financial management. Although problematic credit has a negative impact on bank performance, proactive steps are expected to improve the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio and support the economic recovery of debtors in the future. As well as the resolution of problematic credit at PT. BPR Pekanbaru Madani is carried out through various strategic steps, including credit restructuring for debtors who are experiencing difficulties and increasing communication and education about financial management. These efforts aim to help debtors overcome financial problems and reduce the bank's non-performing loan (NPL) rate. With better collaboration between banks and debtors, as well as support from other institutions, it is hoped that the bank's performance can recover and stabilize, and encourage economic growth in the Pekanbaru area.
