Abstract
ABSTRACT Countermeasure is a prevention that is useful to minimize the event that has occurred so that event or action does not occur again. The crime that often occurs is theft because it is related to the daily living conditions of the wider community, especially in the living conditions of the perpetratorsof these crimes. However, in this case the use of sharp weapons is used as a threat to commit theft so that people are afraid. As the prohibition of the use of sharp weapons regulated in Emergency Legislation Number 12 of 1951 in Article 2 paragraph (1). The formulation of the problem in this study is what are the factors that cause attempted theft with sharp weapons in the Bukit Raya Police jurisdiction, what are the factors that cause attempted theft with sharp weapons in the Bukit Raya Police jurisdiction and how the police efforts in tackling attempted theft with sharp weapons in the Bukit Raya Police jurisdiction. The author chose the type of observational research by means of direct survey to obtain primary data and secondary data. In collecting data, the author interviewed several respondents, including the Chief of Police, Criminal Investigation Unit, Investigator, Assistant Investigator, and the perpetrator. The results of the study explain that there are several factors that cause offenders to commit the crime of attempted theft with sharp weapons, namely: internal factors (individual, mental health), external factots (economy, environment). Attempted theft is carried out under the circumstances of not achieving a goal desired by the perpetrator because it fails. However, attempted theft with a sharp weapon is very dangerous because it can harm the victim and the community. The countermeasures made by the police are increasing patrols, and conducting counseling to the public about the dangers of sharp weapons and the importance of reporting suspicious activities.
