Abstract
The researcher identified many strategies, as seen as there is a difference in mastering vocabulary between ordinary class students and students who join the English club. Students who join the English club are proven to be proficient in English. In this research, the researcher wanted to find out about the teachers' strategies in teaching vocabulary, especially at English Club, SMA N 1 Bangko. In this study, the writer used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design to address these problems. In collecting the data, the writer used some techniques, namely (1) observation, (2) interview, and (3) documentation. In analyzing the data, the writer used some techniques, namely: (1) data collecting, (2) data reduction, (3) data display, and (4) conclusion/verification. The data were collected with 17 informants: 2 English Teachers and 15 students. The results of this study indicate that there are several strategies used by teachers in teaching vocabulary at English Club SMA N 1 Bangko. These strategies include: (1) reading words aloud, (2) Social Strategy, (3) teaching vocabulary using videos, (4) synonyms and antonyms, (5) and a game. Students gave positive responses to some of the strategies the teacher used in teaching English vocabulary.
