Abstract

Inflectional affixes is one of the important topic that can be studied by reading the text. This research aimed to analyzed the types of inflectional affixes in narrative text entitled “The Forbidden Chamber”. The method employed in this research was the qualitative method. The data of this research were in the form of words from narrative text entitled “The Forbidden Chamber” from the website (internet) named “The Stories First”. The data were collected through enter the website, then reading the narrative text, found as much as possible the words which consist of inflectional affixes, then analyzed the data and described the data based on the types of inflectional affixes. The results showed that there are 47 words found consist of inflectional affixes in the narrative text entitled “The Forbidden Chamber”, which were plural (-s), past participle (-en), comparative (-er), past tense (-ed), superlative (-est), and possessive (-‘s). Meanwhile, there are 2 types of inflectional affixes didnt found which were the third person pesent singular (-s) and progressing (-ing). The type of inflectional affix which found the most is the past tense which occurs 27 times. Then, there are 15 word attached to the plurals. After that, third position was superlative which was found 2 times. The last types were comparative, possessive, and part participle which only appears one time in the narrative text entitled “The Forbidden Chamber”.
