Abstract
This research aims to determine the form of the Mangampo Dance Choreographer at the Afner Studio, Payakumbuh City. The theory that researchers use is Jakob Sumardjo's theory of form (2000: 115-116) which states that there are two values ??usually found in a work of art, namely form value and content value. The value of the form consists of the value of the art material or what is also called the "medium" of an art form. In dance, the medium is movement, the movement of a dancer whose job is to convey the meaning or story of a dance through movements that are combined with other mediums, such as musical instruments, make-up and the costum. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis, with a qualitative approach. The data collection technique used in the research was (1) observation, (2) interviews, and (3) documentation. The object of research is the form of Mangampo dance movements. The results of this research describe the atmosphere of gambier harvesting and gambier processing activities in Limapuluh Kota Regency. The dance elements studied are various forms of movement, floor design, dynamics, music, make-up, fashion. All elements that are part of the Mangampo dance at the Afner studio in Payakumbuh City will be discussed one by one.
