Abstract

Population growth has increased the need for electricity in the community, both to support household activities and as a source of energy in the industrial sector. Therefore, it is necessary to meet the additional need for electrical energy by increasing the amount of electrical energy that can be applied by increasing the number of power plants. The use of water is widely used as an energy source to produce electrical energy. Water as a new and renewable energy is considered very cheap and easily accessible because it stores potential energy at the time of water falling and kinetic energy when water flows. Water energy is very widely used as kinetic energy, which is directed to the production of electrical energy, for example, when driving water plants and turbines in rivers and waterfalls. PLTMH is designed on the river at a speed of 0.35 ? ? ? . The PLTMH planning carried out is to have 3 turbine blades where the shape of the turbine blade is half of a tube with a diameter of 0.5 meters and a height of 2.5 meters and the shaft is placed vertically so that installation with the generator is easier and its position is above the water level. In order for the water turbine to float in the water, here we use 4 units of iron drums that are 58 cm in diameter and have a height of 89 cm which function as buoys on the kinetic water turbine on the side. The result of the PLTMH planning produced 542.88 watts of power.PLTMH, Kinetic Water Turbines, New Renewable Energy
