Abstract
The mud pump is the main component in the circulation system on the drilling rig, the main function of the mud pump is to pump the drilling mud from the tank to the drilling hole at high pressure. Therefore it is important to know the performance of the mud pump, especially on its efficiency so as to get optimal work. For efficiency in mud pumps usually range from 70% to 90%, greater than centrifugal pumps which generally only have 30% to 60% efficiency. This study was conducted to determine the performance comparison between Triplex Single Acting mud pumps and Duplex Double Acting mud pumps. The method used is the research method where the data used is secondary data obtained from the company and will be calculated using the concurrent method. From the results of this study it was found that the efficiency of the Triplex Single Acting pump was 89.5%, while the Duplex Double Acting pump was 79.5%. The difference in this value is due to the comparison between the actual pump capacity and theotrical pump capacity, the higher the comparison, the smaller the efficiency value. From the comparison of capacities, it can be seen that Triplex Single Acting pumps have a small ratio of actual and theotrical capacity so that the efficiency is large, while Duplex Double Acting pumps have a large enough ratio so that the efficiency is small.
