Abstract
Natalia Sudarmini (194221022). Pineapple Farming on Peatlands and Production Effiensi Analysis in Bengkalis Regency Riau Province. This research was guided by Dr. Ir. Marliati, M.Si dan Dr. Hamdi Agustin, SE, M.M. Pineapple agribusiness in Bengkalis Regency has considerable potential to be developed because it is supported by biodiversity, availability of agricultural land, suitable agro-climate or climate, availability of labor, and availability of markets. Pineapple production on peatlands is still low and causes an imbalance in pineapple production and demand. In addition, pineapple farming on peatlands is still cultivated using an intercropping system. The purpose of this study was to (1)analyze the characteristics of farmers and the profile of pineapple farming, (2)analysis of pineapple farming, (3)the factors that influence the amount of pineapple production, and (4)the level of efficiency of pineapple production in Bengkalis Regency. The research method used is a survey research method with a total sample of 68 people with multistage sampling. The results showed that the average age of farmers was 46 years, in general, the education level of farmers was high school graduates. Most of the cultivated land for pineapples is privately owned and the number of family members is generally 4-5 people. The average farmer has 11.79 years of farming experience. The area of land owned by farmers is 0.56 ha. The average use of seeds is 7,376 fruit/ha, labor is 40.98 HOK/hectare with the largest percentage of labor used in land preparation. Fertilizer use by farmers, namely urea as much as 52.31 kg/ha, ZA as much as 22.95kg/ha, copper sulfate as much as 10.96kg/ha, and NPK as much as 45.13kg/ha, the average use of ethrel is 39.92ml /ha and herbicides as much as 88.28 ml/ha. The average total production cost of farming is IDR.9,928,005/ha. The average pineapple production is 5,677 kg/ ha. The average price of pineapple per fruit is IDR 2,500 so the total income is IDR.14,191,833 so and the average profit received by farmers is IDR.4,893,828 per hectare/year and feasibility value (R/C) was 1,52. Simultaneously the variables of land area, number of seeds, amount of labor, amount of fertilizer, amount of ethrel, and amount of pesticides have a significant effect on pineapple production on peatlands in Bengkalis Regency with an explanation of 94.2%. A variable number of seeds and the amount of NPK fertilizer is significant and has a significant effect on production at ? = 5%. The variables of land area and labor are significant and have a significant effect on ? = 10%. The average level of technical efficiency of pineapple farming is 0.978, the level of cost efficiency (allocative) is 0.343 and the level of economic efficiency is 0.405 so pineapple farming on peat land in Bengkalis Regency is not efficient both technically, allocative, and economically.
