Abstract

Human trafficking or what is better known as the problem of human trafficking, has recently continued to emerge as a controversial issue at the national and international level, where this takes the form of modern slavery nowadays. Human trafficking can be punished under Indonesian law. The perpetrators worked very neatly and even organized. It can be seen that the main groups most vulnerable to becoming victims are women and children. Victims are exploited, cheated and treated inhumanely This research covers the main problem of what factors cause the criminal act of trafficking in people to work abroad in the Bengkalis Police Area and how the police are trying to tackle the crime of trafficking in people working abroad in the jurisdiction of the Bengkalis Police. The research method used in this research is empirical, namely conducting direct field research, using interview and questionnaire data collection tools. The nature of this research is descriptive, namely providing an overview of criminal acts of human trafficking. This research uses primary data and secondary data. Based on the research results, it is known that the factors causing the criminal act of trafficking in people to work abroad in the Bengkalis Police Area are caused by several things, including poverty, unavailability of work opportunities, very large or too dense population, low level of education, forced by circumstances. The police's efforts to overcome the criminal act of trafficking in persons working abroad in the jurisdiction of the Bengkalis Police include various methods, including providing outreach to the public regarding the existence of criminal sanctions against someone who traffics in persons, carrying out law enforcement, legal protection and prosecution for anyone. who commits the crime of human trafficking.
