Abstract
The Influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model on Mathematical Problem Solving Ability Of Class VIII Middle School Student PUTRI LATHIFAH NPM. 196410893 Thesis. Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP Riau Islamic University Supervisor: Fitriana Yolanda, M.Pd ABSTRACT This research aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning model on the mathematical problem solving abilities of class VIII students at YLPI Perhentian Marpoyan Pekanbaru Middle School in the 2023/2024 academic year. This research is a quasi-experimental research with the non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were all class VIII students at YLPI Perhentian Marpoyan Middle School. Then, the sample was selected using a saturated sampling technique where class VIII.1 was the experimental class which used the Problem Based Learning model and VIII.2 was the control class which used conventional learning. The data collection instruments used in this research were pretest and posttest sheets. The data collection technique used in this research is the test technique. The data analysis techniques used are descriptive statistical analysis techniques and inferential statistical analysis. The results showed that there were differences in the mathematical problem solving abilities of experimental class students and control class students. Based on the results of the analysis, the value of thitung > ttabel = 5,67 > 2,03 and this means that ?0 is rejected and ?1 is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning model on the mathematical problem solving abilities of class VIII students at YLPI Perhentian Marpoyan Middle School.
