Abstract

Writing skill is the activity of expressing ideas through the medium of language. The objective of this study is to analyze the students’ writing skill in descriptive text made by the eighth grade students of SMPN 3 Singingi. In doing this study the writer employed descriptive quantitative design. The subject of this research is the eighth grade students of SMPN 3 Singingi in the academic year 2022/2023, while the samples are 30 students. The researcher used test as the instrument. In collecting the data, the researcher did some steps. They were preparing the research instrument, consulting the test to the teacher and giving the test to the students. The writer found that in content 2,6 sudents who experienced the level of “Good”, in organization 2,7 students who experienced the level of “Excellent”, in grammar 2,7 students who experienced the level of “Excellent”, in vocabulary 2,6 students who experienced the level of “Good”, the last mechanic 2,5 students were at “Average”, followed by writing test at the eighth grade of SMPN 3 Singingi. It concluded the scale that occurs in “Excellent” cause by the test writing skill.
