Abstract

Nowadays, the use of digital technology such as mobile devices and applications can be found at almost every level of education. It is designed to enhance students' experience and performance in the classroom, creating a fun and engaging learning atmosphere in the classroom. One of them is Google Classroom. This research was conducted using a mix method, qualitative and quantitative method with a case study approach to explore in depth information about student perceptions through questionnaires and interviews. This research aims to determine students' perceptions of using Google Classroom as an English learning medium. Twenty-seven class VIII A students at SMP Islam Al Azhar 37 Pekanbaru were selected participants. The focus of this research is based on TAM theory by Davis (1996), there are Two indicators used, namely: Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived usefulness. The final result of this research is that students show a positive perception of using Google Classroom as an English learning medium. The research results showed that the majority of students chose "agree" for each of the 17 statements in the questionnaire, according to the data. Apart from that, the researcher calculated the average percentage index for each indicator, namely the first indicator Perceived Ease of Use was 75.11% (very good), the percentage index for the second indicator Perceived Usefulness was 73.61% (good). Based on the perceived ease of use of Google Classroom, students stated that Google Classroom was easy to access in English learning media. For example, users can easily upload, publish assignments they have done in Google Classroom, and can organize learning in class, the material provided by the teacher can be easily studied, because Google Classroom also provides various features that students can use. Google classroom also improves students' abilities, especially in reading material, so that the quality of students' understanding of reading also increases.
